In Cathrine’s words…
Unpleasant memories of childhood shopping…
I have never found shopping for clothing a joyful or desirable experience. I have memories as a child going shopping for a special occasion and not being able to get the outfit I wanted because it did not come in my size. As an adult, I often was able to shop only in stores with extended sizes. It was often difficult to find items on sale, and I always felt limited by style.
Making new memories…
This month I had the opportunity to attend a fundraising event for Autism Speaks. Cocktail attire was required and I had nothing to wear. I asked a friend to come with me for support. I had the most amazing experience. Not only did I have several options, another customer saw me in one of the dresses, and asked where I found it. She tried it on and bought the dress. It was such a compliment to know she thought I looked good enough that she wanted to try the same dress. I bought four dresses that day and they were all on sale.
Finding a tool that works…
It caused me to reflect on the many ways my life has changed and what has made the difference. I think of Diet-to-Go as a tool in my efforts to become healthy. I used to rely on pills and powders to try to lose weight. I have realized those were not tools I carried with me at all times.
Consistent, healthy choices…
The most powerful tools I have are with me always — my mind and my body.
I make consistently healthy choices when eating and exercising. This is keeping me successful and allowing me to have joyful experiences shopping for clothing with friends!
